How Vibby fall detection works

The Vibby fall detector does not rely solely on a simple pressure trigger.

Instead, it uses a combination of sensors and an algorithm to detect a specific fall pattern, which typically includes:

  • A sudden loss of balance / vertical position

  • A rapid movement (drop in altitude / speed)

  • A significant impact with the ground

  • The user remaining on the floor without recovering

This means the device is primarily designed to detect serious or “heavy” falls, rather than all types of falls.

Because of how it works, Vibby may not detect:

  • Soft or slow falls

  • Slumping or controlled descents

  • Falls with little impact

Vibby fall detectors are not triggered by impact alone — they use a combination of movement, speed, and impact to detect serious falls, which means lighter or slower falls may not always be detected.
