What You’ll Need

  • Heat+ and/or Smoke+ alarms

  • Mounting base (supplied with each alarm)

  • Screws and wall plugs (supplied)

  • Drill and screwdriver

  • Pencil

  • Step ladder

The alarms are battery powered, radio-interlinked, and activate automatically when attached to the base. No mains wiring is required.

Step 1: Choose the Correct Alarm Type and Location

  • Smoke+ alarms should be installed in living rooms, bedrooms, hallways and landings.

  • Heat+ alarms should be installed in kitchens, garages, or areas prone to steam or fumes.

  • Always confirm the correct alarm type is being installed in the appropriate location.

Step 2: Pairing and Interlink the Alarms

  • The LEDs on all devices will flash rapidly red and orange

  • Place the devices to be paired within 30cm of each other and press Switch 2 on the PCB (Printed Circuit Board) on one of the devices. The red LED will flash on all devices, and pairing is complete when the LEDs have ceased flashing.

  • Confirm all alarms are successfully paired.

  • When one alarm activates, all linked alarms should sound.

Step 3: Test the Alarm System

  • Press and hold the test button on one alarm.

  • Confirm the local alarm sounds.

  • Confirm all interlinked alarms also activate.

Step 4: Positioning the Alarm on the Ceiling

  • Install alarms centrally on the ceiling where possible.

  • Keep alarms clear of walls, beams, and light fittings.

  • Avoid corners where dead air may prevent smoke or heat from reaching the sensor.

Step 5: Fix the Mounting Base

  • Hold the mounting base against the ceiling and mark the screw holes.

  • Drill holes and insert wall plugs if required.

  • Secure the mounting base using the supplied screws.

Step 6: Attach the Alarm to the Base

  • Align the alarm with the mounting base.

  • Twist the alarm clockwise until it locks into place.

The alarm will automatically power on once secured.

Step 7: Final Checks and Handover

  • Confirm all alarms are securely fitted.

  • Ensure interlinking is working correctly.

  • Advise occupants to test alarms regularly and keep them free from dust.

Step 8: Unpairing alarms

  • To unpair, turn Switch 1 to the OFF position

  • Whilst holding Switch 2 down, return Switch 1 to the ON position

  • The LEDs will flash; showing the device has been unpaired

Key Benefits of Heat+ and Smoke+ Alarms

  • No mains wiring required

  • Automatic activation when fitted

  • Reliable radio interlinking

  • Suitable alarm types for different rooms

  • Simple and secure installation
